The release of Anthropic's new Mythos model, a new AI model, has put Washington officials on high alert following a warning from the tech industry about the model's security risks. The White House is engaging with Trump administration leaders across agencies to assess the increasing power of AI, following the announcement of the new model. The model was initially released to a small group of technology firms and critical software builders who will use it in their defensive security work and share their findings with Anthropic under a new initiative called Project Glasswing. Partners including Cisco, Google, and Palo Alto Networks supported the project, calling it a “game changer” for finding hidden vulnerabilities. While the tool can help governments find vulnerabilities, it also makes it easier for hackers to exploit these security gaps.
