NWS: EF-1 tornado struck Missouri town with 110 mph winds

The National Weather Service (NWS) has revealed that an EF-1 tornado hit Belton, Missouri, causing damage to homes and a historic cemetery. The tornado was only on the ground for five minutes and traveled from southwest Belton to east Belton. The NWS ruled that the tornado's peak wind speed was 110 mph. The Enhanced Fujita scale defines an EF1 tornado with winds from 86 to 110 mph, making it nearly in the EF-2 category. A fundraiser has been created for those affected by the severe weather.
