Ex-Chihuahua Governor’s wife in ICE custody

Berta Olga Gomez-Fong, wife of former Chihuahua Governor Cesar Duarte Jaquez, is in ICE custody. She is being held at the El Paso Processing Center. Duarte was recently rearrested on money laundering charges related to the use of public funds for personal use through the national banking system. In 2000, he was arrested on conspiracy and illegal enrichment/embezzlement charges forappropriating over $100 million in public funds.
