California Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) has called Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk one of the "greatest disappointments" of his tenure and praised him as "the Edison of our time". He also shared that California's favorable regulatory environment made him a multi-billionaire. Newsom's administration had previously praised the China-Canada deal and praised the deal between China and Canada. He also commented on Palantir Technologies Inc. founder Peter Thiel's "next-level intellect" but had become "nihilistic".
