High school baseball: Lake Catholic falls behind early, loses 10-5 to Elyria Catholic

Lake Catholic High School lost 10-5 to Elyria Catholic in a North Coast Conference game on April 20. The game started poorly, with each of the first seven Elyria Catholics batters reaching safely and leading 4-0. The Cougars had to use two pitchers to escape the first inning, allowing six runs on three hits, three walks, a hit batter, and an error. Despite a run back in the second inning, the Cougars allowed three more runs on one hit and three more walks, another hit batter. Despite these setbacks, Lake Catholic's pitching staff settled down and their performance, with Pete Malchesky and Mann holding the Panthers to one run and one hit over the final four innings. The team has now lost four of its last five games.
