Kimi Antonelli, a 19-year-old Italian, won his first Formula 1 race in the Chinese Grand Prix, beating Mercedes teammate George Russell by 5.515 seconds. This makes him the second-youngest winner of a Grand Prix race, after Max Verstappen at 18. Lewis Hamilton came third for his first podium with Ferrari. The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also suffered electrical failures prior to the race. The overall championship lead is four points over Russell. The Japanese Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix were cancelled due to war in the Middle East.
