New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani celebrated his 100th day in office with a rally at which he highlighted his administration's progress in addressing the city's affordability crisis and creating free child care for two-year-olds for the first time in two decades. He also announced several new administration proposals, including expanding the city’s fast bus lanes, increasing garbage containerization, and launching the first government subsidized grocery store in East Harlem. Despite facing criticism for his handling of public safety and civil liberties, Mammani has managed to maintain record lows despite an uptick in hate crimes reported in the past month. His administration has also been forced to compromise on some of his proposals several times after forcing compromises on some.
