A $5.7 million verdict has been reached against a Taco Bell franchisee after a shooting occurred at a Hartford location. The law firm claimed negligence against the franchisee, GF Enterprise, LLC., and the two managers responsible for the store at the time of the shooting. According to Flood Law Firm, LLC, the restaurant failed to do a background screening on the shooter, Armando Perez, before he was hired and failed to identify that he had a history of gang affiliation. The case also claimed that the managers failed to flag reported threats made by Perez in the workplace or that he was armed at work. The jury found GF Enterprise negligent in the hiring and supervision of Perez, who was convicted of two counts of first-degree assault in 2021.
