Donald Trump has announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be deployed to assist with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in response to the ongoing partial government shutdown, which has left TSA employees working without pay. The president, who blamed the shutdown and lack of funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), also revealed that border czar Tom Homan is in charge of the move, which will begin on Monday, March 23. The partial shutdown began in mid-February after Congress failed to pass funding for DHS. The move has led to staffing shortages and increased absenteeism among airport staff during the busy spring break travel season.
