Thailand's Ministry of Public Health, WHO and partners have called for science-based action on World Health Day 2026. The theme aligns with the One Health approach, recognising the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Around 60% of emerging infectious diseases originate in animals, and climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem disruption are increasing the risk of disease emergence. The event was attended by H.E. Minister Pattana Promphat and Dr Somlerk Juengsmarn, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Health, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Organization for Animal Health (WOHA), and partners from across sectors. A One Health exhibition featured national agencies showcasing practical action across shared priorities to optimize the health of people, animals, ecosystems through multisectoral collaboration. The Department of Disease Control(DDC) and Thailand One Health University Network (THOHUN) supported Thailand’s One Health agenda through complementary roles.
