American Airlines CEO Robert Isom has warned that rising fuel costs will eventually be directly affected by the ongoing war between the U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran, which has been causing significant disruption to travel. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby also warned that the impact of jet fuel on consumers will likely start quickly. Delta Air Lines had previously estimated that an oil price increase of just one cent per gallon would increase its fuel costs by $40 million per year by the end of 2026. Airlines such as Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines have already increased ticket prices by up to 200% and many others have warned that they may need to increase this if the situation continues. Despite some analysts advising travelers to lock down future travel tickets now, some argue this could be risky given the rush of others doing so in a situation of panic.
