British schools have been advised that children's drawings could be considered blasphemous under Islamic law in accordance with the law. This follows a school guidance document issued by Labour councils in northern England. The document warns that figurative imagery of humans is considered idolatrous by some Muslims and that students should be careful not to reproduce images of Jesus, Prophet Mohammed or other figures considered to be prophets in Islam. It also notes that music, which is traditionally limited to human voice and non-tuneable percussion instruments, could conflict with their religious beliefs. However, the West offers economic opportunity and public services to migrants, while Muslim leaders believe they can force Westerners to conform to Islamic standards by invoking the authority of "anti-racism" or "non-discrimination".
