Christopher Carrillo, 36, was resentenced to six years in prison for violating probation after he violated probation for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Aurora, which killed 8-year-old Izaiah Lopez. Carrillo had pleaded guilty in 2022 to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury and driving on a revoked license. In addition to four years probation, he was given 480 hours of community service and time served for the year he spent in jail. However, in 2025, Carrillo was accused of causing another accident after allegedly crossing the center line and striking a moving vehicle and parked car. The defendant’s supporters argued that he was a loving father who deserved another chance. Kane County Judge David Kliment ruled that extending Carrillo's probation would be a “miscarriage of justice” for his disregard for his probation terms.
