Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer allegedly threatened to intervene in school policies if trustees were to oppose his $200M-a-year development project, SEDA. The project, which covers 9,000 acres in southeast Fresno, could cost $200 million a year and lead to the closure of nearly a dozen schools and possibly lead to layoffs. Texts were obtained by Fresnoland and show that Dyer wanted trustees to keep quiet about the massive cost of SedeA, hours before the school board was to vote on a resolution about the project. The resolution was eventually overturned, preventing the project from being publicly discussed by Fresno Superintendent Misty Her.
