Person Found Dead In Dix Hills House Fire; Basement Blaze Traps Victim: Police

A person was killed in an early-morning house fire in Dix Hills, New York, according to Suffolk County police. The cause of the fire appears to be non-criminal. The victim was found in the basement of the home by homeowner Barbara Dugan, who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three Suffolk County officers were also treated for smoke inhalation. The death of the unidentified person will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office.
