Registered dietitian Natalie Rizzo uses frozen vegetables for a quick protein boost to her meals. She often adds frozen peas to meals when she wants to add protein to them. These vegetables are packed with both protein and fiber and are convenient and easy to keep in the freezer. While some frozen foods, like premade meals, tend to be ultraprocessed and high in sodium and fat, frozen produce is typically just as healthy as fresh ones. Frozen fruits, vegetables and legumes are flash-frozen at their peak of freshness, so you don't lose any nutrients by choosing frozen vegetables over fresh ones, including frozen peas. The best frozen foods are ones that look similar to their fresh counterparts.
