The majority of the 17 events cancelled in the past five years were held in Tower Hamlets, with 10 in the boroughs of Greenwich, Havering and Lewisham. The London Councils, which represent all local authorities, stated that they are dealing with a £1bn budget shortfall and that only four of the affected councils responded. The Lambeth Country Show was cancelled after losing a legal challenge regarding its funding.
