A Bay Area family's Cadillac Lyriq EV suddenly shut down due to a sudden faulty battery, leaving a young infant trapped in the car. The car was unresponsive for 30 minutes, leaving the parents scrambling to get their child out. Lacey Gunn, the mother of two, used the remote keyless entry feature but it failed. She immediately called OnStar, a safety and security service for customers of General Motors vehicles, which allows users to remotely lock or unlock doors for certain models. Despite attempts, a remote unlock was unsuccessful due to the battery condition. The family received a nearly $1,000 bill from the dealership.
