Mike Krzyzewski strongly against NCAA Tournament expansion: 'Big mistake' changing March Madness format

Former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has expressed strong opposition to adding more teams to the NCAA Tournament, stating that it could dilute college basketball's best product. While NCAA president Charlie Baker has expressed support for expansion, if the tournament does expand in 2027 or beyond, additional at-large spots are also a possibility. Krzewski argues that a leadership group should oversee the tournament like the NBA and run it like a business. Other notable coaches, including Kansas coach Bill Self and UConn's Dan Hurley, have mixed feelings about expansion.
