Gotham FC's Emily Sonnett has undergone season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in her left knee, potentially jeopardizing the 2026 World Cup for the U.S. women's national team. The club confirmed that Sonnette will miss the remainder of the season. The injury is a significant setback for Gotham FC, currently second in the NWSL standings behind the Washington Spirit. Sonnet, a three-time NWSL champion and two-time Olympian, has played 64 matches for Gotham since joining the team in the 2024 Paris Games.
