The Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School raised $400K through a benefit concert and dinner hosted by Stephen Adly Guirgis, the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, who previewed his stage adaptation of the classic film "Dog Day Afternoon" at the August Wilson Theater. The audience included Ben Affleck, Andrew Cuomo, Ken Sunshine, Tony Burgos, Lisa Belzberg and Jeff Zucker. The school's director, Dan Klores, stated that the school will move into its new home in the South Bronx in August with 69,000 sq. ft. on five floors, in the nation's poorest congressional district. Arthur Aidala will celebrate 1,000 episodes of his radio show, The Power Hour, live from Times Square.
