The rise of car washes in Fort Wayne, Indiana has led to a boom in the car wash industry, with about 30 within the city limits. The industry's subscription business model and low labor cost make it profitable, and the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act allows many business owners, including those who run car washers, to claim 100% depreciation on new equipment. Chloe Andis, a Democratic Candidate for State Senate District 15, believes that high income earners are using the business as a tax haven for income they generate.
