Real Madrid's Federico Valverde scored a historic hat trick in a crucial UEFA Champions League knockout match against Manchester City, marking a 3-0 win for Real Madrid. The first midfielder to score one of these goals in a tie in the UCL era for Madrid, and the second Uruguayan to do so in a first half against English opposition since Lionel Messi, were both the first to do it in a UCL KO round and the first since Jose Martinez 'Pirri', the 81-year-old honorary President of the club, did it back in 1968.
