Record breaking temperatures returned to New Mexico on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 90° and 100° in some locations. However, breezier winds are expected to create a significant fire danger, with winds expected to gust up to 25 to 45 mph with low humidity. This will be followed by cooler temperatures in western and northern New Mexico, but eastern parts of the state will be even hotter. A strong cold front is expected to move in through Friday, bringing wind gusts up to 55 mph and potentially even stronger winds into the Rio Grande Valley. The state will warm up again on Saturday, but temperatures will remain high throughout the weekend.
