El Paso International Airport in El Paso, Texas, saw a decline in passenger traffic in 2025, with 200,000 fewer passengers fewer passengers than the previous year, according to airport officials. The airport handled 4.04 million passengers in 2024, its busiest year in at least 35 years. The amount of cargo going through the airport also declined by 11.3%. The decline in cargo was likely due to a return to more normal cargo traffic at the airport after several years of higher numbers. Despite these declines, airport revenues are expected to increase by 7.4% in fiscal 2025 to $43.5 million, according city budget data. The decline was caused by a softer economy, rising ticket prices, and other factors. The departure of low-cost airline Allegiant from El Paso in 2025 also contributed to the decline.
