NASA is set to host a public event on March 24 at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. to discuss plans for returning astronauts to the moon and establishing a permanent lunar base under the Artemis program. The Artemis program aims to land astronauts on the moon for the first time since 1972, with a landing scheduled for 2028. The upcoming Artemis 2 mission will send four astronauts on a 10-day journey around the moon. The event will also cover plans for a permanent base near the moon's south pole to facilitate exploration and eventually the first human expeditions to Mars. The public event will be followed by a news conference at 4:45 p.m. ET, with opening remarks from NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and a series of public panels.
