B.H. Carroll Seminary’s leadership change starts new chapter

Dr. Gene Wilkes will retire as Dean of B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary (ETBU) after 13 years of leadership. Wilkes was instrumental in integrating the B. H. Carroll Seminary into East Texas Baptist University and was integral in the integration of the seminary into ETBU, which strengthened theological education. He has served as both Dean and Professor of New Testament during ETBU's growth and integration. Dr. David Ritsema will take over as Seminary Dean following Wilkes' retirement, with his expanded role set to begin on June 1. The seminary's current Assistant Dean, Dr. Thomas Sanders, has been praised for his commitment to Christian servant leadership, theological excellence, and Kingdom impact.
