NAIOP poll: Roughly half of members seeing property assessment increases higher than 10% this year

The latest poll by NAIOP New Mexico, a chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP), has found that roughly half of NAIIP New Mexico members are seeing property assessment increases higher than 10% this year. The survey, conducted last week, found that while commercial real estate activity continues to thrive, property tax assessments are creating unpredictability for owners. The poll also found that over half of respondents, 51%, said their valuations increased in excess of 10%. This is part of a series of polls the commercial real Estate organization is releasing in partnership with the Journal through luncheons and newsletters. The findings suggest that commercial property taxes continue to be an issue for the industry, with Executive Director Rhiannon Samuel stating that value fluctuations are lasting longer than NAIAP was told they would.
