Xu Zewei, a man accused of carrying out cyberattacks for the Chinese government, has been extradited to the United States. The U.S. Justice Department has accused Xu and co-conspirator Zhang Yu of working as a contractor for China's Ministry of State Security to conduct a series of cyberattacks. The alleged attacks were part of an "indiscriminate" campaign against a Chinese-backed hacking group known as Hafnium. Xu was arrested in Italy last year at the request of U.,S. authorities. He is now in detention in Houston, Texas. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has opposed Xu's extradition and accused the U.K. government of fabricating cases.
