The Kansas Senate has successfully overruled Gov. Laura Kelly's veto of a bill that would allow people to earn tax breaks on what they pay through health care sharing ministries. The bill, Senate Bill 368, would provide a subtraction modification for health care expenses paid, which would not exceed $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 if a married couple filing a joint return. The House will need a two-thirds majority to override Kelly’s veto and make SB 368 a new law. The legislation will next be voted on by representatives from the House.
