New Russia trustees reject 622-acre industrial rezoning for Lorain County mega site

The New Russia Township Board of Trustees has unanimously voted against an application to rezone more than 600 acres of land for industrial use. The decision was made to preserve the township's rural character and protect its environmental and economic value. The application was filed by Liberty Development on behalf of four landowners and was part of a county-supported effort to build a 1,000-acre mega site for large-scale manufacturing. It is unclear whether this decision will effectively halt the project.
