The County of Marin has reported significant progress in meeting its Housing Element goals, but the development of affordable units is lagging behind. Over 700 homes in unincorporated areas are currently in development review and most programs are on track to meet the 2023-2031 deadlines. The Community Development Agency has also reported that in the first three years of the current cycle, 343 permits were issued across all income categories, with 117 issued in 2025 alone. This indicates increasing public acceptance of smaller, supplementary housing to help alleviate the local crisis.
