Wildlife experts offer home visits to residents
Published on March 23, 2026.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is encouraging residents to book a free home visit from its "Green Team" to learn about how to make gardens more wildlife friendly. The experts advise on creating spaces for native species such as hedgehogs and robins. Over 500 people have had one of the free one-hour home surveys since their launch two years ago. The survey results with recommendations such as adding plants to create habitats and food sources, and adding new water sources, such as fountains. The council has declared a climate emergency for the borough in 2019 and an ecological emergency in 2021.
