Former White House national security adviser, John Bolton, has called for the end of peace talks between the US and Iran, stating that they are a mistake and a catastrophic loss for the United States. Bolton criticised the 60-day extension of the ceasefire, suggesting Iran wants a longer timeline. He also suggested that the United Nations should remove the Strait of Hormuz, where around 20 percent of the world’s oil passes through, which has caused global energy prices to skyrocket. The U.S. and Iran are currently in discussions about a possible peace deal, which includes discussions about reopening the passageaway.
