The Philippines has ended rescue efforts for the victims of a nine-storey building collapse, which left at least four people dead, including a Malaysian national. Another 16 construction workers, mostly women, remain missing. The building collapsed while only nine storeys were approved, and a swimming pool was under construction on the 10th floor. The Philippine labour agency halted work at the site in September 2025 over safety violations, but lifted the order a month later after the company complied with regulations. Authorities are investigating whether the building violated its construction permit terms.
