Teixeira secures GOP nod in bid to succeed Roy in Texas

Retired professional baseball player Mark Teixeira is expected to win the Republican primary in Texas's 21st congressional district, succeeding Rep. Chip Roy who is running for attorney general. Teixeeira, a three-time MLB All-Star, three-times Silver Slugger, and five-time Gold Glove Award winner, has aligned himself with President Trump and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. He will face off against one of three Democrats in November.
