A survey conducted by KFF, the nonpartisan health policy research organization, has revealed that most returning ACA enrollees are making significant sacrifices to stay insured. The survey, which also questioned 1,117 adults who had ACA marketplace coverage in 2025, found that 80% of returning marketplace enrollees report that their premiums, deductibles, or cost-sharing amounts are higher than last year. Half of these respondents said their overall health care costs are significantly elevated compared to 2025. Four in 10 returning enrollees said their monthly premiums specifically jumped sharply relative to their prior year’s coverage plan. The findings come as household budgets are already stretched thin by inflation, rising housing costs, and slow wage growth. The study also found that 43% of enrollees seek additional work or debt to cover their rising health insurance costs.
