Francisco Lindor, the Mets shortstop, made two costly errors during an 11-inning, 2-1 loss to the Cardinals. He was 0-for-4 at the plate and was later picked off first base due to a mental error and a lacklustlustre defensive play. Freddy Peralta managed to escape the situation by throwing five additional pitches in the inning, which Lindor described as "excusable." Manager Carlos Mendoza did not need to address the issue, but acknowledged that Lindor knew he made a mistake. The game ended in a 2-0 loss.
