Pope Leo XIV is heading to Equatorial Guinea after criticising authoritarians. He will meet with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who has been in power since 1979, and will also address the country's political leaders. Over 70% of the population identify as Catholic. The pope is expected to speak Spanish throughout his two-day visit. His most intense day will involve visiting three different cities and a high-security detention centre in Bata.
