Derek Todd, a Massachusetts doctor who was indicted on three counts of rape and 17 counts of indecent assault and battery, is accused of sexually assaulting 11 patients from 2021 to 2023 while working as a rheumatologist and primary care physician at Charles River Medical Associates. The charges stem from an alleged exploitation of patient's vulnerability and abuse of his position of trust. The alleged assaults occurred under the guise of legitimate medical treatment. Todd allegedly conducted unnecessary and excessively prolonged pelvic and breast exams, performed procedures for which he lacked appropriate training or certification, and engaged in conduct that was outside of the accepted standard of medical care. He is expected to be arraigned on March 25th in Middlesex Superior Court. An investigation into Todd's conduct is ongoing and there are currently over 270 former patients suing him.
