Hollywood assistants and support staff are using AI in essential workflows, including the creative development process. The use of AI is often overlooked due to multiple barriers to entry, including labor contracts, ongoing copyright questions, and consumer interest. The Hollywood Reporter spoke to a dozen assistants, who requested anonymity due to job security and a difficult Hollywood labor market. While some companies do not allow AI to be used by their support staff, others are more cautious about incorporating AI into daily operations. Warner Bailey, the onetime Hollywood assistant behind Assistants vs Agents, expressed concern over the use of free or publicly available AI tools without company approval or security oversight. He also highlighted the lack of formal training offered to assistants on AI use.
