Alice the elephant, a 52-year-old Asian elephant, wandered outside her enclosure at ABQ BioPark on March 29, wandering onto the grounds of the park before the park had even opened to visitors. The incident occurred before the zoo had even begun, with no other elephants left the habitat and no staff members in danger. The BioPark delayed opening by 30 minutes while crews cleaned debris from the area and secured a compromised section of perimeter fencing around the elephant habitat.
