OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, has publicly apologised for not flagging controversial messages on its ChatGPT platform by the alleged Canadian school shooter, Jesse Van Rootselaar, who killed eight people and injured over 25 others in Tumbler Ridge earlier this year. The apology was shared to social media by British Columbia Premier David Eby. Altman stated that the alleged shooter’s account had been banned in June, but OpenAI did not flag it to the police. The suspect was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene.
