FIFA appears to be ready to fight back after UEFA threatened to boycott the World Cup over FIFA's private equity proposal. FIFA claims it would own and control FIFA Forward Enterprise, the company that would be spun off to private equity, and each of its member associations would receive $20 million of development funding over the next four years if the proposal passes. However, UEFA has threatened to withhold its teams from competition. The most immediate effects would be seen in the women's game, with three of the top four sides based in Europe. If the issue remains unresolved, Poland may be unable to host the women’s under-20 World Cup in Poland.
