'My son mattered': Amador County family finds justice as jury convicts man in son's murder

A jury has convicted Amyis Coogler of second-degree murder for the shooting death of 20-year-old Corey Shearer at a Rancho Cordova house party in 2022. Despite an 18-month delay in an arrest, the case was finally solved using DNA evidence, witness testimony, and surveillance video. The jury also found true an allegation that Cooglers personally discharged a firearm causing death. Coogled was tried as an adult and faces up to 40 years in prison.
