Adoni Vassilakis, a senior guard from Marist, led Marist to a 59-33 victory over Lockport in a Class 4A Joliet West Sectional semifinal. His older brother played for Lockport, and he chose Marist over his hometown team. The game was a must-win for Vassillakis, who produced a well-rounded effort with eight points, six rebounds and six assists. Stephen Brown, a North Carolina State football recruit, led the second-seeded RedHawks with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Marist will now face top-ranked Homewood-Flossmoor in the sectional final.
