Attempted homicide suspect apprehended after pursuit in Ascension Parish

Ascension Parish authorities have apprehended a suspect in an attempted homicide following a vehicle pursuit along Burnside Avenue in Gonzales. The Gonzales Police Department and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported details in a joint news release March 18. The suspect, 37-year-old Carmille Anderson, was identified as the subject of the Be On the Lookout alert and initiated a pursuit when officers attempted to make contact with him. After the vehicle was stopped, Anderson sustained self-inflicted injuries, including multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he is in critical condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
