Newly released surveillance video shows Pauls Valley High School Principal Kirk Moore heroically tackling the gunman who opened fire inside the school. The video also reveals that someone opened a locked door to let the suspect inside. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old former student Victor Hawkins, was seen entering the building with a gun and moving into the lobby with two students. Hawkins had reportedly tried to shoot a student but the gun did not fire. During the struggle, Hawkins allegedly shot Moore in the leg. The National Association of School Resource Officers praised Moore's heroic actions and highlighted a potential breakdown in security protocol.
