Kansas City's public safety task force has shut down six businesses for illegal gambling machines in the last month. A new city ordinance has made the machines illegal, and the public Safety task force is enforcing it. The machines have caused conflicts and disputes in communities, according to task force director Joe Williamson. One business owner's attorney is considering legal action against the closure, which will impact his bottom line by about 40 to 45 percent. The city can fine businesses up to $1,000 per machine at the city level.
