French filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin has spoken about his American influences in his new film, "Two Pianos," which premiered at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema at Film at Lincoln Center. The film, which stars François Civil, Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Charlotte Rampling, is about a once-gifted pianist returning to France after years of exile in Japan. The screenplay was written first in English with Kamen Velkovsky and Ondine Lauriot dit Prévost. Desplechic is known for delivering emotional and introspective dramas featuring French stars. He also mentioned that he had to rewatch "The Age of Innocence," particularly Daniel Day-Lewis, for inspiration.
